Whether you’re spending the day barbecuing, taking in some rays at the beach, or watching fireworks, our Independence Day is a great reason to celebrate. While enjoying this holiday, we’re also encouraging our customers to focus on safety to prevent electric hazards and wildfires.
Light up your 4th of July with these safety tips:
- Never attempt to set off personal fireworks, especially near dry brush or flammable materials.
- Keep fireworks and Mylar balloons away from overhead powerlines. If a balloon or any other object is caught in a power line, contact SDG&E immediately at 800-411-7343. Do not try to remove it yourself.
- Fallen power lines are extremely dangerous. Always assume that they are energized. Stay clear of the line and call 911.
