The Value of a Resilient Community

On March 3, SDG&E’s Energy Innovation Center’s Cabrillo seminar rooms were standing room only, with representatives from businesses all over the county attending the 2017 Disaster Preparedness Academy, presented by the American Red Cross Business Leadership Council and the San Diego Regional Chamber.

This year’s event was attended by members of SDG&E’s Emergency Operations Center, Community Relations and Business Services teams. The goal: To better understand how to protect your business, employees, family and community from potential impacts of disasters and emergencies.

Did you know?*

  • About 74 percent of small businesses don’t have a disaster recovery plan.
  • Up to 40 percent of businesses never reopen following a major disaster.
  • Only 7 percent of San Diego residents consider themselves well-prepared for a disaster.
