SDG&E’s 4th Annual Watershed Summit Attracts Visitors Near and Far

Last week, SDG&E welcomed nearly 300 environmentally conscious regional leaders to its 4th Annual San Diego County Watershed Summit hosted at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Some traveled as far as Hawaii for the annual convening of stakeholders who are focused on key environmental issues, while also taking advantage of unique networking opportunities to advance innovative-solutions that will help shape the future of our watersheds.

In its fourth year, the summit aims to bring together a cross-section of the region’s nonprofits, educators, regulators, utilities, municipalities, environmental agencies, water and wastewater districts, tribal leaders and other environmental advocates for a full day of environmentally-focused sessions ranging from storm water management, wetlands restoration, to nature-based solutions to address climate change.

The program started off with a moving keynote from California State Parks Commissioner and founder of Outdoor Afro, Rue Mapp. As the founder of Outdoor Afro, Rue works on reconnecting African Americans with natural spaces through outdoor recreational activities. She oversees a carefully selected and trained national volunteer leadership team of 30 men and women who represent 16 cities around the US.

At SDG&E, we understand our unique environmental role and how this impacts the region. This is why we’re dedicated to being a responsible steward of the earth’s natural resources and conserving plant and animal species along with their natural habitats.
