SDG&E in Top 10 on Energy Efficiency Scorecard

As part of our efforts to become the cleanest, safest, most reliable energy company in America, SDG&E is proud to announce another milestone that sets us apart.

This week, we were named one of the top ten highest energy efficiency performers among the nation’s 51 largest electric utility companies. The ranking developed by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), evaluated a wide range of efficiency programs and performance including the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions that offer customers tools to manage their energy usage.

So what made us stand out? We scored high on many of the metrics because we make it easy for our customers to save energy and money through a host of innovative solutions:

  • Through our one-stop shop, SDG&E Marketplace, customers can easily find information on rebates and energy-efficient appliances offered by third-party retailers, including washers, pool pumps, thermostats and water heaters. We were among the first energy companies in the nation to launch this kind of online tool, and debuted earlier this year a new improved version.
  • At our Energy Innovation Center, which is one of the first 10 buildings in the world to achieve double LEED Platinum certification, visitors can explore the latest in energy efficiency, renewable energy, smart grid and alternative fuel technologies.
  • No matter what size your business is, we offer energy assessments and solutions, including a customized report detailing your top energy-savings opportunities alongside financial incentives to help you get started.

Over the past year, our efforts, combined with our customers’ efforts, have resulted in savings of over 346 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), reduced energy demand by approximately 93 MW, and saved nearly 3.6 million therms—the equivalent of removing more than 55,000 cars from the road!
