It all began with a desire to help our customers maximize savings by providing a one-stop-shop for energy-efficient home appliances and electronics. SDG&E Marketplace launched in January 2016 with just eight product categories that included washers, dryers, and refrigerators.
Today, the site offers 22 product categories – everything from dehumidifiers and heat pumps to electric vehicle chargers, televisions and smart home products. In less than two years, our trusted online portal has logged 1,000,000 customer visits.
More importantly, Marketplace has, to date, processed 18,000 plus rebates returning more than $1 million to our customers!

7,000 Products – All Easily Searchable
Modeled after leading e-commerce sites like Amazon and Zappos, Marketplace allows shoppers to easily compare prices, estimate energy savings, review product features and find popularity ratings across 7,000 energy efficient products offered by online retailers and brick and mortar stores.
You can create a personal profile on Marketplace to receive email alerts about price drops, new product notifications, as well as save your searches and track the status of your rebate. Marketplace also is optimized for mobile access ensuring you never miss out on a good deal.
While Marketplace initially focused on rebate-eligible products, today it features non-rebate eligible items as well, including computer tablets, video game consoles, sound bars and air purifiers. These popular consumer electronics can vary widely in their energy consumption. In instances where Energy Star ratings are not available, Marketplace provides the Enervee Score®, which shows you how efficient a product is compared to all the other products in its category. The closer the Enervee Score is to 100, the more efficient the product.
Rebates Made Easy
Earlier this year, Marketplace launched FastTrack rebate processing where customers can file for their rebate in minutes by snapping a photo of their receipt and uploading it on the site. With this new feature, we are able to settle 40% of the energy efficiency rebates on the same day and more than 75% of them in under eight days.
The Marketplace team is constantly striving to remove customer pain points in the rebate process and is working currently to develop instant rebate solutions for select products and categories. With instant rebates, customers will enjoy the savings at the point of sale.
