Clean Air LUNG FORCE Walk

San Diego Takes Steps for Clean Air at LUNG FORCE Walk

Last weekend, more than 800 San Diegans took strides against lung cancer at the American Lung Association’s signature LUNG FORCE Walk.  The annual event focuses on helping to save lives by bringing awareness to lung health.

A large team of SDG&E employees joined forces with the walkers to raise funds for lung cancer research, preventative treatments and programs, like the Lung Association’s Better Breathers Clubs, a support group for chronic lung disease patients, family members and caregivers.

At SDG&E, we share an important commitment with the American Lung Association to improve air quality and build healthier communities.

As part of this commitment, we were proud to support the LUNG FORCE walk in San Diego again this year, after hitting a high note last year as the largest corporate LUNG FORCE Walk team in the nation.

Clean Transportation Cleaning the Air

According to the American Lung Association’s 2017 State of the Air Report, 125 million Americans—nearly four in ten—live in regions with significant levels of ozone or particle pollution, putting them at risk for serious health issues. The good news: the report also found there has been improvement in air quality in recent years, with the best progress resulting from cleaner power generation and an increase in the use of cleaner vehicles, like EVs.

Through our Environmental Champions initiative, we also support the American Lung Association’s Plug Into Clean Air, a program that educates San Diegans about the benefits of EVs.
