SDG&E and San Diego Harley-Davidson team up for community motorcycle ride to benefit Alzheimer’s San Diego

Whether it’s a member of your family, a friend, or a neighbor, chances are you know someone whose life has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.

In San Diego County alone, the figures are staggering—nearly 65,000 people are suffering from the disease, with another 200,000 providing care to them. And with 500,000 new cases expected to be diagnosed in America this year, Alzheimer’s is an epidemic in San Diego and nationwide.

Fortunately, our region has support from Alzheimer’s San Diego to provide those afflicted with Alzheimer’s or dementia and their caregivers with programs and services to manage daily challenges and make sure they know they aren’t alone as they take on the disease.

One local family who knows the stress and strain of Alzheimer’s firsthand and understands the importance of the services provided by Alzheimer’s San Diego is our President at SDG&E, Scott Drury.

For the past seven years, Scott and his family have cared for his mother at home who is battling the degenerative disease—an experience which led Scott to an idea that will benefit every San Diegan impacted by Alzheimer’s disease—SD Rides4ALZ.
