One Sunday morning last June, as temperatures inched towards 100 degrees and gusty winds blew, a fire broke out in the southeast San Diego community of Potrero.
Under the harsh weather conditions, the Border Fire continued to burn for over a week as more than 1,700 firefighters and other first responders worked to contain the blaze and keep residents safe.
Among those on scene were SDG&E crews, who worked in close coordination with CAL FIRE and other agencies. They brought with them a valuable asset—an SDG&E Mobile Command Center.
Shared Resources for Shared Success
Equipped with technology to provide high-speed internet access, enable mobile communications and enhance situational awareness, these traveling communication hubs provide flexibility unlike any traditional office can offer, making it possible for first responders to stay connected throughout the duration of an emergency.
Strategically staged at SDG&E facilities in El Cajon, Pine Valley, Ramona and Miramar, the four Mobile Command Centers are ready to be deployed to any location in the county where firefighters or other emergency workers need them.

- HD video camera and display for enhanced situational awareness

- LED lighting for interior and exterior
- Provides shelter and workspace for SDG&E crews and other responding agencies
