Heat Wave Prompts Energy Conservation Efforts Statewide

CAISO issues Flex Alert

As the heat wave is forecast to continue through Labor Day weekend, the California Independent System Operator (ISO) has issued a statewide Flex Alert today, Sept. 1, calling for voluntary electricity conservation from 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. to help ease stress on the power grid.

While we always prepare for the summer by securing enough energy to serve our local customers, the statewide grid is interconnected and conditions may change anytime. The conservation efforts of SDG&E customers will help the entire state when it needs it the most.

SDG&E activates Reduce Your Use Rewards program, Sept. 1

SDG&E also has called a Reduce Your Use Rewards event today encouraging participating customers to decrease their energy use between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to reduce the strain on the system and help eligible customers save money.

Through the Reduce Your Use Rewards program, customers can earn a bill credit of $.75 per kilowatt hour saved or $1.25 credit per kilowatt hour saved with enabling technology such as a smart thermostat.
