Wildfire Awareness Week: Are You Prepared for the Next Emergency?

Editor’s note: Like the rest of California, our region’s safety and resiliency is being challenged by the effects of rising temperatures, prolonged drought, increased wildfire frequency and other severe weather patterns. In response, Gov. Jerry Brown has declared May 6-12, 2018 Wildfire Awareness Week to ensure Californians are prepared for the new normal: year-round fire season.

This week, our Senior Meteorologist, Steve Vanderburg, the American Red Cross and 2-1-1 San Diego went on KUSI News to educate the public about the importance of having an evacuation plan and an emergency kit in place to take care of basic needs during extreme weather conditions.
