Season of Giving: A Holiday Toy Story

Season of Giving: A Holiday Toy Story

Imagine a world where every child feels joy every day. With this dream in mind, two SDG&E employees set out to bring a little joy to those in need with a holiday toy drive. Now, nine years later, the dreamers have established SDG&E’s annual toy drive, helping to inspire their fellow colleagues to give toys to bring joy during the holidays.

“When we saw the Salvation Army was having issues raising money and getting toys for families and children in need, we took it as a sign,” said SDG&E employee, Nathan Maycott, who along with another employee Jessica Garrett started the SDG&E Holiday Toy Drive. “We quickly partnered up and outlined our mission to bring joy to children’s faces during the holidays.”

Start Small, Dream Big

Thanks to the generous spirit of SDG&E employees, more than 10,000 toys – 800 this year alone – have been collected and distributed to various organizations in San Diego including Rady’s Children’s HospitalSan Diego Center for ChildrenKaiser Pediatrics and the Polinsky Children’s Center.
