To make it easier for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) customers to find the energy-saving products and services that best fit their needs at the best price available, the energy company launched SDG&E Marketplace in September 2015.
The innovative online store allows users to explore and purchase energy-saving products from third-party retailers and apply for rebates within a single platform. In less than a year since opening, SDG&E Marketplace was visited more than 100,000 times, proving to be a success with customers making energy efficient upgrades at home.
Moving with the times
As popularity with customers grows, SDG&E Marketplace kept pace—expanding from the original five product categories offered, to today’s total of 19—a number that the energy company expects to continue to increase.
In addition to standard appliances like washers, dryers and water heaters, customers are now able to browse for the energy efficient electric vehicle (EV) chargers, televisions, video game consoles, smart thermostats, tablets and more. SDG&E Marketplace is expanding on an on-going basis, launching new product categories throughout the year.

Energy efficient upgrades not only help save money by using less energy, they often are accompanied by rebates. SDG&E Marketplace streamlines the process, which had taken several weeks to complete in the past, making it so customers can receive rebates in a matter of days.
SDG&E Marketplace has simplified and shortened the process to get money back in your pocket by moving the entire rebate process online. Customers simply submit their receipt and email address to start the process, and typically receive their rebate in less than one week as a direct deposit via PayPal or a Visa Debit Card.
