Power Your Drive at the Children’s Museum

Did you know that California is home to 50 percent of all electric vehicles in the nation? What’s more is that San Diego is leading the way with nearly 23,000 electric vehicles on the road today – an astounding number that continues to drive SDG&E’s focus to reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for our customers and our communities.

The next generation of Electric Vehicle drivers

The future of cleaning up our communities lies with our children and it’s important to us that we lead by example. Today, the New Children’s Museum, an organization that we’re proud to support, unveiled a sculpture in the shape of an electric vehicle in the Garden Project – an urban garden that aims to educate children and their families on environmental and social responsibility. While the young visitors may not be able to hop behind the wheel of electric car today, we want to increase their exposure to clean energy and help them draw a connection to clean air.

Clean transportation key to cleaner air

SDG&E has spent more than a decade reducing our carbon footprint through the rapid expansion of clean energy. We all want to breathe cleaner air, which requires an increased focus on the areas that produce the most harmful emissions. The transportation sector accounts for about 40 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in California and we are committed to increasing the use of electricity as a transportation fuel source.
