Going to Bat for… Energy Savings

Going to Bat for… Energy Savings

More than 20 members of the San Diego non-profit community will benefit from the SDG&E–San Diego Padres season-long philanthropic collaboration—Going to Bat for San Diego.

Before the first pitch of the 2016 MLB season, the San Diego Padres converted Petco Park’s stadium lighting to industry-leading LED technology. The upgraded lighting system improves visibility, allowing players to better track the path of the ball, while also significantly reducing the stadium’s energy use and related costs.

With the refreshed LED arrays, Petco Park cut energy costs by 40 percent, earning the Padres a new title: Energy Champion. The impressive results of the energy efficiency and sustainability measures at Petco Park were recognized earlier this year when San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) named the San Diego Padres as a 2016 Energy Champion.

Bringing energy savings home to you

SDG&E offers a variety of programs and services designed for customers to save energy and money. Going to Bat for San Diego will introduce a fun and new way for SDG&E customers to achieve energy savings at home.

By providing LED bulbs at no cost, customers have the chance to see how quickly and easily energy savings can be achieved in their own homes, without having to make an initial out of pocket investment. SDG&E is committed to providing customers with the tools to jumpstart their energy savings to realize how much of a difference every energy efficient improvement can make.

Through a text-to-win campaign, fans will have the chance to receive free and discounted energy efficient products. SDG&E will send free five-packs of LED light bulbs to the first 5,000 customers to text “LED” to 4-SDGE (47343) during Padres home games.

The text promotion—Padres Shine Bright at Petco Park— will also provide fans with opportunities to purchase discounted energy efficient products through the SDG&E Marketplace.
