Event Network: Saving Green by Being Green

The USS Midway Museum, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, the Queen Mary, the Griffith Observatory – these are just a sampling of the many cultural attractions nationwide where San Diego-based Event Network, LLC operates gift shops.

This local company is not just a retail innovator, it’s also a role model in environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.

For that reason, we recently honored Event Network as an Energy Champion at our 13th annual Energy Showcase. We named the company one of two honorees in the commercial category in recognition of the energy efficiency upgrades it has made at its Kearny Mesa headquarters, and the sustainable practices it has implemented throughout its stores, supply chain and operations.

Event Network was able to reduce energy use by approximately 25 percent at its headquarters by upgrading control software on its mechanical equipment and adjusting the schedule of the equipment and lighting. Its facility is Gold LEED-certified for interior design and construction. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

Taking Advantage of One-Stop-Shop Energy Savings

To achieve its sustainability goals, Event Network took advantage of our Business Energy Solutions Program: a one-stop-shop to obtain no-cost energy audits, as well incentives and on-bill financing to fund energy efficiency improvements. We offer an extensive catalog of energy efficient technologies and products to our business customers at low or no cost. The catalog covers everything from heating and air conditioning to refrigeration equipment to commercial kitchen appliances.

In addition, Event Network staff has taken advantage of free training offered by our Energy Innovation Center to help businesses implement best practices in green building design, operations and maintenance.
