Editor’s Note: As part of our 10-day countdown to Electric Vehicle Day 2018 at Liberty Station, every day we will share information about a special aspect of the event or news about electric vehicles and why they matter for the health and sustainability of our communities.
Over the years, Electric Vehicle (EV) Day in San Diego has grown, in large part because of the strong partnerships we have formed with local and national organizations with whom we share a deep commitment for clean transportation.
As in years past, our local partners for this year’s event, set for Saturday, Sept. 15, at Liberty Station, includes Cleantech San Diego, a nonprofit whose mission is to advance the San Diego region as a global leader in the cleantech economy, and , and the Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE), which is dedicated to the driving the adoption of clean, sustainable energy solutions. CSE administers the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, which offers Californians up to $7,000 in rebate for the purchase or lease of a plug-in vehicle.
National Partners Working to Advance Clean Transportation
At the national level, our partners for EV Day include:
- Plug in America, a nonprofit organization that educates consumers, policy-makers, and others about the benefits of driving electric and provides practical information through its PlugStar program to help consumers select the right EV to meet their lifestyle needs. Plug In America founded the annual National Drive Electric Week, the world’s largest annual celebration of plug-in vehicles. EV Day San Diego is part of National Drive Electric Week.
- The Electric Auto Association educates the public about electric vehicles through a network of grassroots chapters, including one in San Diego. Members of the San Diego chapter will be at EV Day to answer questions.
- The Sierra Club, one of the most prominent environmental organizations in America, is also a major advocate for clean transportation.
