Come and See Us at the High Tech Fair!

Come and See Us at the High Tech Fair!

At SDG&E, we’re proud to support our next generation of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) leaders with the education, tools and hands-on experience that will enable them to become San Diego’s future engineers, scientists and innovators.

We’ve recently partnered with the Fleet Science Center to help support their annual High Tech Fair event to help get students excited about the careers they can pursue in STEM industries.

The event is entirely free and aimed at students in grades 7–12 to learn about the opportunities available to them in the scientific field. The science students learn in the classroom is complemented with real-life applications through interactive experiences at more than 30 booths with professionals from a variety of STEM-related industries, including:

  • Aerospace/Defense
  • Biotech
  • Energy/Sustainability
  • Higher Education
  • Environmental Science
  • Technology

We will have our SDG&E IntelliGrid model on display for students to interact with at the event. The IntelliGrid is a small-scale model of SDG&E’s electric grid that integrates software and hardware components to demonstrate how we deliver safe, reliable power under both steady-state and emergency conditions.  The model illustrates how our grid restores power when there’s an outage and shows how having more renewable energy on the grid affects the system, both locally and more broadly.

SDG&E's IntelliGrid

The IntelliGrid project was created by San Diego State University students through our partnership with the university. We’ve been working with SDSU for more than a decade, supporting programs and projects that show students how what they learn in the classroom today, can translate to making a real difference in their communities through STEM careers. It’s exciting to have the opportunity also to share the project with more students at this event and we hope to see you there!
