Learn About STEM at the High Tech Fair

STEM—you’ve likely heard the term, but do you know what it means?

It stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics—and experts in STEM are inviting your kids to learn more through a hands-on event.

Bring your kids and join us Thursday, January 25, at the High Tech Fair to see STEM at its finest.

Hosted by the Fleet Science Center, the High Tech Fair brings together local organizations like SDG&E, Qualcomm, Birch Aquarium, General Atomics and many more to share the latest STEM technologies with students in grades 7–12 to get them excited about future careers in STEM-related fields.

Some of our STEM professionals will be at the High Tech Fair with our Intelligrid Model, an interactive display that integrates hardware and software to demonstrate how we power millions of homes and businesses every day. Students will have the chance to interact with the exhibit to see how our grid restores power when there’s an outage and how adding more renewable energy to the grid can affect the power system, both locally and more broadly.

Free and open to the public, the event will kick off with Family Night this Thursday.

          When: Thursday, Jan. 25, 5–8 p.m.

Where: Balboa Park Activity Center, 2145 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA

At SDG&E, we rely on engineers, IT professionals and scientists to develop innovative tools and technologies that help us deliver clean, safe, reliable energy to our customers. We invest in STEM education programs—particularly those focused on underserved communities and young women—to help cultivate the next generation of leaders, who will enable us to add more renewable energy and electric vehicles to our power grid and implement more advanced technologies, while continuing to provide reliable service.
